Intro:
Second bout in this stable war sees Joan Smalls (Girls Friday) look to increase her stables lead as she makes her FCBA debut. Her opponent Anna Jay (LMW) has her first fight under the LMW banner after signing with them a few months ago. Both step into the ring here in Dubai's Jumeirah Beach.
Both spoke to FCBA Networks Alicia Atout on the beach at the hotel the fighters were staying at. First she spoke to Joan outside her room. Joan smiles as she wearing a black tracksuit top and bottoms with black sandals.
Asked about how she feels making her debut in the FCBA. Joan replies "I am a little nervous, I've been trying to regain my BBU welterweight title so it was a bit of a shock that I was asked to be part of the team. Still I feel great, I am on a great run of results, hopefully the FCBA fans enjoy me."
The subject turns to her opponent, Joan tells Alicia "obviously you are friends with Anna from AEW, so I won't be too rude about her. Still I know that she will want to humiliate me to prove a point since she has a fat ass and a bad attitude right. Well I am a Latina so I suggest she doesn't upset me" pointing at the camera as if to make sure Anna knows she isn't messing around.
Anna meanwhile let Alicia into her hotel room as she wore a white dressing gown and seemingly not much else. Anna sits on her bed as she tells Alicia "I knew signing for a stable had perks but this room is amazing." Buzzing as she speaks.
When they discuss what she thinks about Joan, Anna answers "look I get she has won a world title but she isn't exactly a young fighter. I am the new breed coming through, I am athletic, smart and tough. I am here to win titles."
Standing up, Anna lifts up the back of her dressing gown to show off her bum wearing a black thong. Anna says "if Joan doesn't behave herself she might get to see this up close and personal." Winking at Alicia.
Fighting time! The ring itself sees ring posts set into the sand with black ropes. There are VIP members making up the crowd in chairs at ringside.
First to walk towards the ring from her stables tent is Joan with her coach Rebecca Romijn. She is wearing a black bikini with white gloves, hair tied into a ponytail. Tapping her gloves together before she climbs into the ring. Rebecca tells her to show the FCBA fans why she is a champion.
Anna now begins her walk to the ring with Ali Landry beside her. Anna is wearing a red bikini with gold glittery trim, red gloves with gold thumbs and hair tied into a ponytail. She gets into the ring blowing kisses to the cameras before taking a breath to get into the zone.
Both women walk to the middle of the ring for the referee to go through their instructions, eyes locked as they step in closer. Referee keeping them apart as they don't exactly look friendly. They swipe at each others gloves before jogging to their corners, the bell rings to start 10 rounds of welterweight action.
Round 1:
Out they come exchanging single punches to start. Anna soon looks to be the aggressor on the inside with a few short hooks. Joan responding well by landing a few short uppercuts to make Anna back off knowing she won't be allowed to simply bulldoze her way through that easily.
Cheeks are being stung till Joan manages to catch Anna on her nose with a straight to bring a tear to the wrestlers eyes. Anna soon finds herself moved around the perimeter of the ring as Joan shows her bite. Straight shots being exchanged but the cleaner punches coming from Joan as she slices through the guard of her opponent.
Anna comes back at Joan late with hooks to the body. They nearly clash heads as Anna looks to pay her back. Joan happy to trade in close in the dying moments of the round, grunts and groans can be heard from the fighters till the bell rings to end proceedings. Anna looks to the heavens trying to keep her cool as she returns to her stool.
Round 2:
This is looking a big test for Anna as Joan is smartly boxing around her. Sand being kicked around as they trade around the ring. Anna landing the chest of Joan to try to take her out her game but Joan bashes her back around her nose in reply. Soon there's a trickle of blood from Anna's left nostril to bug her.
A mistimed left hook from Anna leaves her open for a straight on her forehead. Left hook to the jaw soon lands to twist Anna's head around. The American finding herself pressed back against the ropes as Joan starts to land more power shots, digging her toes I to the sand to give the American problems.
Pushing Joan off her so she can get into space. Anna needing to cover up more tightly and focus herself. Both trading around the ring as Anna giving up ground. The round comes to an end with Ali having a word with Anna, telling her to get her head into the game.
Round 3:
It looks like Anna has listened to her coach as she is using more feints. Anna still has a few straight shots landing on her face but she is landing some crisp shots in reply now. Both boxing in close at times with hooks to ribs being exchanged before they separate and reset.
Anna catches out Joan with a slip of a straight coming her way, countering with a left hook to the chin of the former champion. Anna showing her muscle to drive back Joan with piston like shots to her breadbasket. Joan being forced to clinch up when she is pinned to the ropes. They are split apart with eyes staring daggers at their opponent.
Resuming with Anna now being the aggressor. Joan now finding herself under control around the outside part of the ring. Anna slamming in a good mixture of shots. Joan landing more single punches around the face of Anna in response till the round ends. Anna nodding to herself as she knows that was much better.
Round 4:
Stepping back out to fight on. They are landing several flurries to each others faces. Anna not enjoying getting hit around her nose but she is toughing it out to keep at Joan. Getting a few solid shots back into the lips of Joan to make her groan out.
Into the second minute, Anna dips under a jab to land an overhand right on the cheek of Joan to knock her back a step. ANNA LANDS A FOLLOW UP LEFT HOOK TO SEND JOAN DOWN ONTO HER BACK!
Anna walks over to the neutral corner shaking her bum with a wink to the camera outside the ring. 1....2....3....4... Joan shakes her head as she sits up. 5....6... She pushes to her right knee, dusting herself off. 7....8... Getting up to her feet. Raising her fists before the referee wipes her gloves.
They resume with Anna looking to finish the fight now. Joan needing box on the back foot. They both land several clean hard hits through the others mitts. Anna can't quite land a big punch again or pin down Joan as the bell rings to end the round. Anna looking jovial as she walks back to her corner. Joan needing to take a breath before she sits down.
Round 5:
Anna looking to push on from the success she had in the last round. Anna is getting caught on her nose as Joan times her coming in. A right hook catches Anna on her chin to open her up as Joan follows in with a left/right hook combo.
Near the end of the opening minute Anna lands a few body shots as she comes inside. She gets nudged back by a left forearm to her chest. A CLUBBING RIGHT HOOK ON THE CHIN OF ANNA SENDS HER ONTO HER BUM!
Joan walks to the neutral corner with her arms in the air to gloat. 1....2....3... Anna rubs her chin as she blinks to clear her vision. 4....5....6... Anna maybe showing her inexperience at this level we she pushes to her feet with a slight wobble. Referee checks her over as Ali watches closely from outside the ring to see how she is. Anna assuring she is ok as her gloves are wiped down.
Back at it they go as half of the round is done. Anna trying to be the aggressive one but her nose is bleeding once more after a straight lands on it. A RIGHT HOOK ROCKS BACK ANNA TO HER HEELS! JOAN IS NOW POUNDING HER AROUND HER HEAR INTO A CORNER! ANNA'S GLOVES ARE NOT PROTECTING HER AS SOON IN COMES THE TOWEL FROM THE LMW CORNER! REFEREE WAVES THE FIGHT OVER!
Winner Joan Smalls TKO Round 5
After:
Raising her arms in the air as she stares at Anna to make her know who is the dominant one here. Anna stares back as she rests against the turnbuckles with defiance. The referee needing to nudge Joan back to her corner before tempers flare up.
The winner blows kisses to her corner before getting high fives from Rebecca. They discuss the fight as Rebecca reminds Joan that she was knocked down, so not exactly a perfect performance. Still she has given her stable a two to zero lead.
While Anna looks a little bewildered why Ali threw the towel in the ring. Anna has to be told she was being punished without showing enough for her coach. Anna nods as she is helped to her corner but her pride has to be hurting right now.
Once she has been patched up, Anna is helped out the ring by her coach. She has hands on her hips as she shakes her head as she can't hide her annoyance. Still this will be a good learning experience for the young fighter as she got to fight a woman whose held a top title in her career and certainly didn't embarrass herself.
In the ring Joan gets her left hand raised in victory. She gives the crowd a treat and a little mocking of her opponent by twerking her behind with a wink, laughing as she does it. Another win on the board for Joan in all seriousness as she is on a roll now.
Leaving the ring with her coach. Joan will be back in the BBU looking to regain the title there. Still could we see more of them in an FCBA ring? For now it's all about her stable as she will be supporting her stablemates after putting the stable in a great position in this stable war.
